2025 International Postgraduate seminar

From October 16th to 17th, the 9th International Postgraduate Seminar on Refractories was successfully held. The seminar was sponsored by State Key Laboratory of Advanced Refractories and Joint International Research Laboratory of Refractories and Metallurgy of Wuhan University of Science and Technology. This seminar was Support by Federation for International Refractory Research and Education (FIRE) and established the "Best Oral Presentation Award", further enhancing the academic level and international participation of the seminar. About 200 experts, scholars and postgraduate representatives from 9 countries around the world participated in the conference online and had in-depth exchanges on the cutting-edge of refractory materials science and technology.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Ma Teng, the vice president of our school, delivered a welcoming speech. Mr. Chris Parr, the president of Federation for International Refractory Research and Education, and Professor Patrick Gehre, the rotating chairperson, delivered speeches respectively.

The seminar is divided into six sub-forums. They are respectively Dr. Sido Sinnema, Executive Chief of Staff of Federation for International Refractory Research and Education, Professor Jin Shengli from WUST, Professor Dietmar Gruber from Technical University of Leoben in Austria, Professor Patrick Gehre from Technische University Bergakademie Freiberg in Germany, Professor Dai Yajie from WUST, and Professor Ilona Jastrzębska from AGH University of Krakow in Poland, served as the chairmen of the six phases respectively.

A total of 25 high-quality academic reports were presented by 16 overseas postgraduate students from countries such as Austria, Germany, Brazil, Poland, South Korea and the Netherlands, as well as 9 domestic postgraduate students from universities including Wuhan University of Science and Technology, China University of Geosciences (Beijing), Shanghai University, Xi 'an University of Architecture and Technology, Henan University of Science and Technology and Northeastern University.

At the closing ceremony held on the 17th, Professor Li Yawei, the executive director of State Key Laboratory of Advanced Refractories at WUST, reviewed the development process of the seminar.

After the resolution of the international jury, six winners of the "Best Oral Presentation Award" were finally selected. The award ceremony was hosted online by Dr. Sido Sinnema.
