From June 13th to June 20th, Prof. Xu Yibiao and Dr. Xu Xiaofeng of our school participated in the The XVI Conference of the European Ceramic Society, ECerS, which was hosted by the European Ceramics Association and undertaken by the Politecnico di Torino. The conference aims to deepen the exchange of cutting-edge research and technological developments in advanced ceramics and related fields, strengthen the close ties and collaboration between industry, academia and research, and promote theoretical research, technological innovation and transformation of results in advanced ceramics and related fields. The conference focused on nine major themes in ceramic science and technology research, including Innovative Processing and Synthesis, High Temperature Processes and Advanced Sintering, Modelling of Ceramics, Advanced Structural Ceramics, Composites and Refractories, Ceramics and Glasses for Healthcare, Ceramics for Energy Conversion and Storage, Functional Ceramics, Silicate Ceramics, Ceramics in Cultural Heritage and Art.
The conference invited Professor Richard Todd from the University of Oxford, Professor Fu Zheng from Wuhan University of Technology, Professor Young-Wook Kim from Seoul National University, Professor Tommaso Ghidini from the European Space Agency, and Professor Mathias Herrmann from the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technology and Systems, Germany to conduct the main report of the conference. Prof. Xu Yizhen and Dr. Xu Xiaofeng gave reports entitled "Corrosion Mechanisms of Magnesia-Chrome Refractories in Copper Slag and Concurrent Formation of Hexavalent Chromium" and "Mechanical Properties and Fracture Behavior of MgO-C Refractories" respectively.
