In order to further strengthen the close cooperation between our school and Russian universities, Prof. Li Yawei, Zhang Haijun and Liao Ning visited the Moscow State University of Science and Technology (NUST MISIS), Moscow Polytech and the Ural Federal University (UrFU) from June 16th to 21st. Moscow State University of Science and Technology and Ural Federal University are belong to Russian “5-100” plan universities. The program, there will be no less than five Russian universities entering the top 100 universities in the world before 2020, was launched by the Russian government in 2012 to increase the international competitiveness of Russian universities.
During the visit to Moscow State University of Science and Technology, Li Yawei and Zhang Haijun and Denis Kuznetsov, the director of the Department of Functional Nanomaterials and High Temperature Materials, conducted in-depth exchanges on the research work in the fields of functional materials and nanomaterials. A consensus was reached on the next step cooperation of scientific research and the graduate student exchange program. Then, they visited the Moscow Institute of Technology, which has certain characteristics in refractory teaching and research.
During the visit of the Federal University of Ural, they discussed with Alexey O. Ivanov, Vice President of the University, Oleg Y. Sheshukov, Dean of the Institute of New Materials and Technology, and Ivan D. Kashcheev, Ceramics and Refractory Materials. Alexey O. Ivanov introduced the implementation of the “5-100” program, highlighting the cooperation model and progress of the university and Chinese universities in recent years, and hopes to strengthen cooperation with our school in personnel training, student exchange and scientific research. Oleg Y. Sheshukov, dean of the New Materials Technology Research Institute, proposed a cooperation model in the direction of metallurgy and materials, which is starting with the cooperation between the two schools, and jointly publishing scientific research results, applying for intergovernmental cooperation projects and promoting both parties. Personnel exchange and talent training. van D. Kashcheev, a senior refractory material in the ceramics and refractory technology department, introduced the history of refractory development and reviewed the friendship with the Chinese refractory business community. On behalf of the research team, Li Yawei also introduced the research achievements of refractory materials in our school in recent years, and exchanged opinions with the Ivan D. Kashcheev team on the next joint declaration of Sino-Russian intergovernmental research projects.
