Our teachers were invited to participate in the Iran International Symposium on Refractories

From October 21st to October 27th, Prof. Li Yawei, Huang Ao and Wang Qinhu of our school were invited to participate in the 5th International Symposium on Refractories in Iran. At the symposium, all the three teachers made corresponding theme reports respectively entitled “Brief review of the characterization methods for investigating the mechanical behavior of refractory materials”、“The effect of electromagnetic field on the interfacial behavior between refractories and slags” and “Wetting behavior and infiltration of Si melt on SiO₂ substrate containing porous α-Si₃N₄ coating and β-Si₃N₄ coating”. Li Yawei and Huang Ao served as the chairman of the sub-venue.

During the symposium, Li Yawei and Huang Ao respectively conducted training courses for scholars in the field of refractory in Iran. They respectively made reports entitled “Nano-sized Carbon Sources in Carbon Containing Refractories” and “Corrosion behavior of alumina-magnesia refractories in contact with dynamic metallurgical melts-steel refining”. After the symposium, they were invited to visit Islamic Azad University and talked with the school leaders, head of International Cooperation and Communication and head of Engineering School. The two sides reached preliminary cooperation intentions in terms of personnel training, student exchange and scientific research cooperation.

Through participation in the Iranian Refractory Symposium and visits to Iranian universities, we have a close understanding of the development status of the refractory industry in Iran and the training of talents in universities. It also showed the latest achievements of our school in the field of refractory materials and laid the foundation for the next step of scientific research cooperation and talent cultivation between our university and Iranian universities, and promoting the internationalization of China's refractory industry.
